I was hugely disappointed to discover that the PostBus service out to Rannoch Station had been dropped. I agree with the Post Office that this has to be subsidised and it would appear that the conditions for subsidy cannot be met by a service having such a dependency upon the vagaries of the Train Operating Companies, for example.

Were you not able to influence the Perthshire authorities to make the funding provision less strict?

Dear Murdo Fraser

I am one of the project developers for 'Loch of Shining Waters' and I developed the site with Terry McLean, which has now grown to be developed by both of us and the input from our volunteers (as well as contributions from the local community).

When we first launched the site, we were really surprised at how popular it was becoming in such a short time, and every month we have new positive developments which we were never expecting, nor could we have imagined.

We recently learned about the motion you had tabled at the Scottish Parliament, and this was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. Terry and myself, never imagined that the site would be as big or as popular as it is, and through demand and recognition, has gave us the confidence and motivation to continue to develop and build upon the site for the benefit of the Lochgelly area.

I would like to thank you on behalf of myself, Terry and the volunteers for showing support and tabling this motion. All the volunteers are chuffed to bits, and it has been a very good morale booster for everyone involved in the project.

Once again, thank you very much for your support, it is most appreciated.

Kind Regards - James

Murdo - thanks for your efforts towards getting the A9 between Perth & Inverness dualled. Having seen your campaign in today's Courier (Monday 4th April'11), I logged on, signed the petition and left the following message: "SNP politicians should bow their heads in shame - one of their key manifesto pledges was to dual the A9 - there is actually less dual carraigeway now than there was then, with the recent removal of the short stretch north of Pitlochry! How many people need to be injured or killed before they do what they said they would do? Maybe one of their close friends or relatives would catch their attention? Get democracy working and vote these liars out in May - ordinary tax paying road users deserve better than this!"

good luck in May & kind regards

Re your campaign against wild camping - it would be good if you could include Loch Faskally in your list of lochs . As a dog walker I (and many others) are constantly cleaning up rubbish - putting out fires etc left by inconsiderate campers, picnickers, and parties. It would also be good if you could mention public toilets as there is also evidence of these people defecating in the countryside as the public toilets are not open for reasonable hours in the summer. In fact campaigning on more public toilets instead of ridiculous comfort stops would be a useful subject for you to pursue. It is noticeable in Pitlochry that less buses are stopping here in the early evenings as the toilets close at 6 p.m and the lack of toilets at the entrance to the town is ridiculous.

Having worked extensively monitoring wind farm construction over the last decade, I would advise any local people who have concerns to very closely watch and record with auto-dated photgraphs what is happening around the site.

The developer should not only comply with the extensive list of planning conditions but with recently published guidance (Nov 2010) by SNH 'Good Practice During Windfarm Construction'. However it is my experience that many developers fail to prevent pollution of surrounding watercourses and the issue can be low down the list of prorities for contractors unless they are strongly held to account by regulatory bodies, local people and councils.

At the first phase of the Braes of Doune I remember that local people took to monitoring/photographing the watercourses leading from the site in the end.

Dear Murdo Fraser - While never having been a conservative voter, If you manage to keep the radio stations on freeview, it would certainly bring you a lot of credibility in my opinion! Good luck with this - it would be a scandal to lose all the richness of radio for one minority channel which devotees can, if they want, already seek out elsewhere. Any survey done was surely done under some kind of false pretext, or slanted to ask mainly those who already wanted gaelic coverage - you could equally ask those already listening regularly to any one of the 13 radio stations if THEY wanted their station(s) kept. I think we could all predict the results of that!

It's not only radio listeners in upland areas throughout Scotland with poor reception who will be disadvantaged by the loss of radio on Freeview. DAB radios are still relatively expensive and are not found in every home by any means, yet almost every household now has at least one digitial TV, enabling them to listen to digital-only radio stations. The recent protests against the threatened axing of the likes of 6 Music and Asian Network show how popular these stations are, and this new threat has resulted in a lot of vehemently anti-Gaelic comment on some websites. Creating a resentful majority is not in the interest of the Gaelic language or BBC Alba.
Wales somehow manages to transmit the Welsh-language S4C alongside the full range of other TV & radio stations, and Scotland should follow this approach.

Murdo,

If you want Pertol and fuel prices reduced as you say, why not sign the Courier's Petition which is to be sent down to the Treasury in London, dont wait for the Budget, act now to influence Government, on behalf of the people.!

Murdo, I have left in your letter box details re making sure WW2 Aerodromes are not lost in the mists of time, which you can return to me later. I look on this as part of the spirit of a minority government, working on the behalf of the people of Scotland, taken at a local level, and working with consensus, to persuade as all to work for the public good. Lets work together on this particular subject.
