Scottish Conservatives praise Blairgowrie firm Castle Water
Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has praised Blairgowrie firm Castle Water, which he has described as a “Scottish business success story.”
The politician, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region, recently visited the independent water services company along with Councillor Caroline Shiers, who represents the Blairgowrie and the Glens ward for the Scottish Conservatives.
Mr Fraser said: “It was a pleasure to make a return visit to Castle Water and catch up with chief executive officer John Reynolds.
“From a launch less than five years ago, Castle Water has grown in to a great Perthshire and Scottish business success story, now employing 380 people.
“The company is committed to a base in Blairgowrie and has become a hugely important part of the local economy.
“Castle Water continues to grow and attract new business right across the UK. It is great to see Blairgowrie being the home for such a dynamic, successful company, and I wish John and his team every success in the future.”
Councillor Shiers added: “I was pleased to hear that Castle Water are being proactive in seeking to find additional parking for their staff. There is no doubt that the additional employment opportunities created in Blairgowrie and Rattray by Castle Water have had an economic impact on the town with High Street businesses seeing the benefit of the influx of hundreds of employees.
“I am aware though of the pressure this has had on parking and ongoing discussions have taken place with Perth and Kinross Council to look at how we address this, and look at a turnover of the key parking spots in the town - especially those at the riverside.
“I also took the opportunity to thank John Reynolds for the ongoing financial support to events and organisations within the town which is making a huge difference and is much appreciated.”
