Full extent of SNP Tax Grab laid bare

Statistics from the Scottish Conservatives have revealed that just over 150,000 people on median incomes in Perth and Kinross, Fife, Stirling and Clackmannanshire will be hit by SNP plans to increase tax.

The figures come in the wake of yesterday’s budget which resulted in an additional £2 billion being made available to the Scottish Government.

Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP, Murdo Fraser, believes that the SNP should shelve their tax plans and help out the 156,000 average income workers who are set to be hit by their plans.

Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said;

“Workers in Stirling are set to be amongst the hardest hit by these proposed tax hikes but nearly 90,000 people in Fife will find themselves paying more under the SNP.

“The Chancellor has given the SNP and additional £2 billion to spend which puts to bed any talk of Scotland being short-changed by Westminster.

“Although the tax differential might seem modest to some, increasing tax for people on middle-incomes sends out the completely wrong message and could act as a Trojan horse for more increases in the future.

“People across Perth and Kinross, Fife, Stirling and Clackmannanshire will all be paying more and its high time that the SNP gave these workers the break they sorely deserve.”
