Scottish Conservative politician Murdo Fraser has slammed the actions of school children in Perth who attacked a 12-year-old pupil in a shocking bullying incident.
A video was taken of the sickening assault that took place at Perth Academy on January 17. The attack involved some pupils from Perth High School.
A clip from the video, which shows the bullying attack that was shared on social media, is now being examined by Police Scotland.
Mr Fraser, who is one of the representatives for the Mid Scotland and Fife region, said he had spoken to concerned parents of children at Perth Academy. He underlined that he will be contacting Perth and Kinross Council to ensure that this type of behaviour will not be “tolerated.”
He said: “This was an appalling bullying incident at Perth Academy, also involving pupils from Perth High School. I’ve already spoken to parents who are very concerned about this.
“It’s very upsetting for pupils and does nothing for the schools’ reputations.”
He added: “Instances of bullying like this seem to be becoming more common these days at schools and often involve someone taking video footage and then posting it on social media – it’s horrendous.”
“I am sure that Perth and Kinross Council and the school authorities will be taking what action they can in these circumstances. Parents want assurances that bullying incidents will not be tolerated and will be severely dealt with.”
