Murdo Fraser welcomes UK Government scheme to help jobseekers in Perth and Kinross
Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed a UK Government initiative that will provide help to jobseekers in Perth and Kinross.
The politician, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region, was reacting to the recent announcement made by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that digital job surgeries will be launched across the UK in a bid to equip those looking for a job with useful skills in an attempt to get more people back to work.
The Job Finding Support service aims to benefit around 150,000 jobseekers across the UK over the next year.
Commenting, Mr Fraser said: “This UK Government scheme is very welcome indeed as it will provide many jobseekers in Perth and Kinross with the likes of interview skills and try to help them find jobs during this difficult time.
“The scheme also gives advice on those who wish to switch careers and it will be run in tandem with the existing support that is available at jobcentres across the country, as part of the UK Government’s Plan for Jobs.
“It consists of mock interviews, help trying to identify transferable skills along with online sessions on how to improve job search techniques.”
